Fest Approved No Matter What
Thank you so much for subscribing to Lagniappe Box. Your April Box subscription is helping five Louisiana small businesses during these unprecedented times.
The April Lagniappe Box is always one of our favorites to build. Spring is blooming in Louisiana with weekend festivals filling the calendar as far as you can see. This year is a little different and in light of recent events, we hope this box inspires you to “fest” it up and celebrate from home! One of our favorite festivals and one of the inspirations for this month’s box is the Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival, one of the best outdoor family festivals! When you think about festivals you think lots of food, fun, and community gatherings for all to enjoy; great Louisiana entertainment!
Enjoy the best fest fun that Louisiana has to offer and remember, it will all be that much sweeter when we celebrate Spring Festivals next year!

Denicola’s Foods · denicolasfoods.com
Crawfish Monica and a Mango Freeze is something every Jazz Fester should experience in their lifetime. While we can’t have the real thing this Spring, we’ve teamed up with Denicolas to bring a little Jazz Fest home! Support your local restaurants and order some crawfish one night, and peel about a pound on the side for your Jazz Fest Fun. Turn on some New Orleans Brass Band on Spotify and follow the Étouffée recipe, but replace the rice with fettuccine noodles to make it a Crawfish Monica! While that’s stewing, grab the blender and make your own Mango Freezes (thanks to gonola.com for the recipe)
3 1b. 8 oz. mangos (or save yourself the trouble and get frozen mango chunks)
3 T fresh squeezed lime juice
1 C simple syrup or agave nectar
- Make simple syrup if using. Puree all ingredients in a blender. Strain through a fine mesh sieve. *Hint* Using a whisk will help push the pulp through.
- Freeze in your ice cream maker until thick and creamy or if you don’t have an ice cream maker, just put in an airtight container and put in the freezer until firm.
